Andy Spiceley

dominic Andy began  learning the piano at an early age at the Watford School of Music. He went on to study music at Surrey University gaining a masters degree in performance and winning both the university’s composition prizes.  A keen interest in 20th-century music was fostered in both institutions and contacts at Surrey led to participation in a number of contemporary music ensembles, involving performances at noted venues including the Wigmore Hall, South Bank Centre, St John’s Smith Square, and Glastonbury Festival as well as broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and touring both in the UK and internationally.

In recent years Andy has appeared as a concerto soloist with West Forest Sinfonia in works by Bartok & Schnittke, and as a pianist in many chamber ensemble performances.  He is also a frequent contributor to local orchestras where he may often be heard playing timpani or percussion as well as orchestral piano/celesta.

He is very much looking forward to bringing the wonderful Dohnanyi Variations to a new audience in his first solo appearance with Crowthorne Symphony Orchestra.
